State-wise solar capacity & PM Surya Ghar subsidy guide for Indian homeowners

Solar Parks in India: State-wise Capacity (GW)
What this means for Indian homeowners: India’s solar boom — led by Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Karnataka — signals massive grid infrastructure being built across the country. For homeowners, this translates to more stable net-metering policies, faster grid approvals, and better ROI on rooftop solar installations. With 132+ GW already installed and a national target of 500 GW by 2030, now is the best time to go solar and lock in subsidies before demand peaks.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I get the subsidy for an already installed solar system?
No. The PM Surya Ghar subsidy applies only to new installations made through the official portal after registration. Existing systems installed before scheme enrollment are not eligible for the central subsidy under this scheme.
How long does it take to receive the subsidy amount?
After successful installation, net-meter connection, and submission of your bank details and commissioning report on the portal, the subsidy is typically credited to your bank account within 30 working days via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Is there a state-level subsidy on top of the central subsidy?
Yes, several states offer additional incentives. For example, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Gujarat have their own top-up subsidies or accelerated depreciation benefits. Contact Kondaas Automation to check the latest state-specific offers applicable in your area.
What if I live in a rented property or a housing society?
For rented properties, you need written consent from the property owner and a no-objection certificate. Housing societies can apply as bulk installations under the RWA route, which may qualify for group discounts and higher subsidies.
